Welding technique for rotation bodies
To join a rotation body, the component is rotated axially several times to uniformly heat up the joint line. The welding method required for this process is radial welding. The clamping pressure needed is generated within the components themselves by an interference fit.
If the component itself cannot be rotated, alternative variants of this welding method are used: Rotating the optics around the fixed component, or using a mirror and a scanner-based laser head to focus the laser beam at a circumferential horizontal welding level.
The benefits of radial welding:- simple and rugged system layout
- rapid welding process
- reliable process monitoring
- parameter adjustment possible
- guaranteed quality with an unprecedented good parts ratio
